Big Daddy

Big Daddy is one of Kariba’s most popular houseboats and is booked most months of the year. It can accommodate 26 people but we recommend a maximum of 18 adults. The rooms are fitted with luxurious beds and all rooms are air-conditioned. Every room has a fan running off the invertor system when the generator turns off. The upstairs area is one the best and most well known on any Kariba houseboat. It has 3 deep freezers/ fridges and two modern three door glass fronted under counter bar fridges. All fridges and freezers run off a 4.7 Kw Solar/Invertor system which means the generator does not have to be run during the day, resulting in great savings in diesel costs. The kitchen is well fitted and spacious and our chef Wilton is renowned for his spectacular meals. It has recently been refitted with new ‘fly by wire’ 235 HP Volvo Penta Engines, new Ampprop propellors and a totally new rudder system. The boat is incredibly smooth, quiet and fuel efficient. Average time taken to get to the Ume is 5 – 6 hours and trips to the Sengwa and beyond are possible and affordable. Cephas our Captain is a legend on the lake, having been with the boat since its’ inception in the early ‘90’s. His knowledge of the lake and his fishing skills are unsurpassed! The upstairs area has plenty of shade and there are 4 heavy duty fans strategically located to ensure you are cool, even on the hottest day. There is also a substantial sunning area with exceptionally comfortable sunbeds and cushioned bench seats along the edge of the deck. This all complimented with a beautiful teak bar alongside the popular jacuzzi.
