NYAMASOWA WALK (Kariba Gorge)

Distance: Apporximately 6km.

Fitness Level: Intermediate, some steep inclines & uneven river beds.

Morning Walk: Starting in the Kariba gorge about 5km downstream from the Kariba dam wall, locally know as the Nyamasowa area. The walk will follow the Nayamasowa riverbed up & out of the gorge towards Kariba town.

Afternoon Walk: In order for you to take in the sunset the walk will be the other way round from the morning. Starting near Kariba town you will follow the Nyamasowa riverbed down into the Kariba gorge.

Expect some steep inclines through igneous rock & pebble stewn ground. This walk is not about the wildlife but the spectacular scenery & geology of the area. If you are a birder there will certainly be much for you to see! Wildlife is not abundant in the area but there is the possibility of seeing leopard, waterbuck, bushbuck, elephant, lion & hyena.

NYANANA SAFARI WALK (Lakeshore)

Distance: Approximately 9km.

Fitness Level: Average, covers flat ground.

The Walk: Starts on the Kariba lakeshore in the Charara safari area following the lakeshore for a short wile then cuts inland up the Nyanana riverbed ending on the main kariba road.

Meander along the shoreline through the mopane forests & along the sandy Nyanana riverbed. This is a gentle walk to take in the different landscapes while learning new trivia about the bush from your guide. This walk is great for birders with some sightings that might surprise you! Wildlife is spread over this large area with the most popular sightings being elephants, waterbuck, impala & zebra. The area also contains the shy & illusive eland, leopard, grysbok, duiker & porcupines.
